Happy Halloween! This is a half-year mobile home plate. The 'JJ' seems like an odd thing to have on a plate, but stands for 'January-June.' |

Okay, apparently Iowa's Sesquentennial was such a big deal that they had to offer TWO commemorative plates to motorists. Frankly, the top plate looks so nice, I'm not sure why they bothered with the bottom one at all. Notice the placement of the 'S' (which likely denotes 'Sesquentennial') on each plate. |

This is the current Iowa passenger issue. Later (and current) issues on this base are screen printed with the much-cheaper 'flat' technology. While I'm sure it saves Iowa money, they look and feel as cheap as they must cost. The font used for the registration letters/numbers and the flimsy aluminum substrate are just poor, in my opinion.
