KS 95
This is the attractive Kansas passenger issue that first appeared in 1994 (1995 expiration), which was replaced in 2001 with the plate you see below. Yes, those are wheat stalks in the center...certainly you were aware of the Kansas/wheat connection.
KS 02
This is the 2001 issue, another very nice-looking plate. The wheat stalks are still present, but they take a back seat to the state capitol building in Topeka, which is featured prominently. Coincidentally, both this 2001 issue and the 1994 issue above are first-year issues with the painted-on expiration year, which is covered with validation stickers in subsequent years. Not too many states do it this way (most new plates have no date printed on them), though it does save on an entire year's worth of stickers for the state of Kansas.
