Not 100% sure of the use of these plates, but they are from Newfoundland & Labrador. Not sure if they were for boats, or for fisheries-owned vehicles. |

This is actually an example of a complicated plate, at least from a manufacturing standpoint....all text is embossed on the plate, but two colors were used. I think that means that first, the top and bottom text was stamped and painted; then, the registration number was stamped a bit higher and then painted. |

This was a limited-edition plate, issued in 1997. I think 15,000 were produced and issued before they went back to the plate below. Certainly it's one of a handful of plates that celebrate 500 years of *anything*. |

This is the current baseplate, introduced in 1993. As noted above, the issuance of this plate was interrupted by the commemorative Cabot plate. |
