This is one of my favorite color combinations...Caribbean plates usually are fairly colorful, as you would imagine. These plates are fairly unique in that a metal validation tab covers the left 1/4 of the plate. |
This is obviously an exception to the above observation...also missing its validation tab, unlike its 1983 counterpart above. |

The Young Family strikes again! This colorful Puerto Rico plate is a trailer plate, and was issued in the mid-to-late 1980s. This plate actually left Puerto Rico and traveled extensively in Europe before heading back to the States.
Thanks again to the Youngs for donating this to the collection. |

Colorful plates commemorating Columbus' discovery of the New World in 1492. The top plate, with its "T" prefix, denotes a Truck plate. The lower plate, another Young Family Special, is an all-numeric passenger plate. |
Definitely a distinctive Caribbean color scheme...don't know if the scan accurately reflects the true color, but it's a kind of deep coral. |
Another nice color plate (actually very similar to the 1969 Saskatchewan plate color). The 'T' designates the island of St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. |
This is a more recent USVI issue, produced by MVLS in California but donated by the Young Family (are they great, or what?). Again, the 'T' prefix denotes St. Thomas. Current plates are virtually identical save for their yellow baseplate. |
A less-colorful Caribbean issue. Sint Maarten plates require a validation tab (see extra space at left), which I don't have for this plate. |
This is a 1975-1992 Cayman Islands plate. Many Cayman plates are identical, with vehicle types being separated only by different numbering blocks. This plate was from a truck/trailer combination, but was only a few hundred numbers off from a regular passenger plate. |

You'd figure Jamaica to have some brightly-colored plates, wouldn't you? Nope. This is as basic as it gets, a 1234 AB format with no other identifying characteristics. This basic plate has been in use since 1973, with this particular format dating to 1987. Cheers to RalliartRSX for securing this plate and its mate. |
